There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is not legal. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently required to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel complex that contains many amenities on top of the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
